Summer Reading: Home

Welcome to Summer Reading

Summer is a great time to focus on reading for pleasure. We encourage students to read every day, if possible, and to explore a variety of books. Some days may be perfect to get lost in an adventure, and others to learn something new or find something light and funny.

Reading aloud to your child is the best way to help your child learn to love reading. When listening to a book, children are often able to appreciate books that are more challenging than what they can read independently. Reading aloud gives you an opportunity to talk about the story together, make predictions, ask questions, and simply spend time together. When children see that this is something you want to do, it sends a powerful message to them.

The summer reading lists include books for independent reading and read alouds. If you need more suggestions, take a look at one grade above and below your child's. Many of the recommended titles are available on Sora, our digital book collection.

If you have any questions or need additional recommendations, please reach out to our Lower School Librarian, Elaine Kaufmann, at ekaufmann@trevor.org

Happy Reading!
